INVESTOR ALERT – HEARTFORD CAPITAL MANAGEMENT

Saint John – The New Brunswick Securities Commission is warning the public about an alleged investment scheme involving gold, oil and other options being offered to Canadian investors.

The Commission has received information from other Canadian securities regulators that representatives of Heartford Capital Management are currently contacting Canadian investors in several provinces and soliciting investments in gold, oil and other options. According to its website, Heartford is describing itself as “an international wealth management and consulting firm that provides individuals and corporations with the diversity of human resources, markets and technology to assist those with investment objectives”. It also claims to provide superior investment products and advice to medium income individuals and high net worth investors around the globe.

The Saskatchewan Financial Services Commission (SFSC) has recently issued a temporary cease-trade order against Heartford.

According to contact information on Heartford’s website, they are operating out of Panama and Costa Rica and appear to be a reincarnation of Hartford Capital Management, a company already cease-traded by the SFSC. The SFSC ordered Hartford and Bruce White to stop trading in all securities and to stop advising with respect to any securities, trades, or exchanges. Heartford’s web site is virtually identical to Hartford’s web site. They both use the same graphics, layout, wording, attachments, bank transfer documents, bank account numbers, and display the same telephone, fax, and toll free numbers. Heartford/Hartford Capital Management S.A. should not be confused with Hartford Investments Canada Corp, an investment management company operating out of Toronto.

The Commission is concerned that Heartford may begin offering this investment scheme in New Brunswick. Heartford is not registered with the Commission.

If you are called by Heartford, you are urged not to provide any personal information and to immediately advise the New Brunswick Securities Commission at 1-866-933-2222.

The Commission reminds the public to “invest in knowing more” and research each investment opportunity BEFORE investing your hard-earned money. Know what you are investing in and who you are investing with. New Brunswick investors can call 1-866-933-2222 or click www.nbsc-cvmnb.ca to see if a company or individual is registered with the New Brunswick Securities Commission.
